Top 29 Fights on Hockeyfights.com

I want to hit a lighter note on Friday with one of the most popular features at Behind the Net: our semi-annual summary of the best fights in the league (since the lockout) as voted by the users of hockeyfights.com.

Normally, I'd pick the top 25 fights, but several fights are tied with an 8.2 rating, so I had to go with 29.  The full list:

Rick Rypien's most recent fault vaulted to the top of the list.  Some of the picks are a bit idiosyncratic - hockeyfights.com users love Rypien, and they love to see Riley Cote get beaten up.  But for the most part, the top fights are heavyweight bouts that go a full round - as usual, expect to spend an hour watching youtube if you start clicking on these links.

Love the way that Colton Orr is always smiling after a fight. It’s more than a little scary, too.

See, and I’ve always been partial to Jordin Tootoo fights…he’s like a little cannonball, tucks his head and plugs away.

I figured you’d just left Washington off again.

Perhaps I’m biased, but Staubitz vs Tootoo is my all time fave. :)

Ever get the feeling we are on a collision course with reality? (boycott Hollywood!)

Request:

Something looking at the effectiveness of goalies when they come in in relief. Info on that might be hard to find, but I’m wondering how much sitting on the bench and coming in cold affects the new goalie’s play.

D.J. King d. Eric Godard - 8.8 on the list

How anyone can call that a draw (like 40+% of the voters) is just a horrible joke. It was a draw after King landed 11 of the first 14 or 15 punches thrown.
